How do I change Vehicle Connectivity Settings with SYNC?
You can enable or disable Vehicle Connectivity through the settings menu of your SYNC®* or Ford Digital Experience®** system using the instructions in this article.
Notes:
- Ford recommends keeping Vehicle Connectivity on for the best update experience.
- All Connectivity Settings must be enabled to access all Ford app features.
Turning Vehicle Connectivity Settings On and Off
Important: Your vehicle must be parked and running, and in an open location (e.g., free of overhead foliage, ceilings, etc.).
Select your SYNC generation or Ford Digital Experience from the drop-down options below to learn how to modify your connectivity settings. If you need assistance determining the generation of your SYNC system, select the first drop-down option.
Notes:
- If your SYNC generation is not listed, it does not have Vehicle Connectivity.
- SYNC generations without a touchscreen do not have Connectivity Settings.
- Instructions may vary. See your Owner's Manual for information specific to your vehicle.
Identifying Your Vehicle's SYNC Generation
Select a resource in the table below to help you identify your vehicle's SYNC generation.

Ford Digital Experience
- Tap the Vehicle icon on the left side of your Ford Digital Experience screen.
- Select Settings.
- Scroll down to Network & Internet.
- If the toggle is blue and to the right, vehicle connectivity is on.
- If the toggle is white or gray and to the left, vehicle connectivity is off.
Note: Certain features, such as Connected Navigation or Sirius XM, may have their own toggle in the Vehicle Connectivity/Connected Vehicle Features section. For these features to function properly, the setting must be toggled on. Ensure all relevant features are enabled when configuring connectivity settings.
SYNC 4A | SYNC 4
- Tap the Settings or Home icon on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
- Select Connectivity.
- Choose Connected Vehicle Features.
- Toggle the Vehicle Connectivity slider to your preference (On or Off).
Note: Certain features, such as Connected Navigation or Sirius XM, may have their own toggle in the Vehicle Connectivity/Connected Vehicle Features section. For these features to function properly, the setting must be toggled on. Ensure all relevant features are enabled when configuring connectivity settings.
SYNC 3
- Tap Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
- Select FordPass Connect.
- Press Connectivity Settings.
- Toggle the Vehicle Connectivity slider to your preference (On or Off).
Note: SYNC 3 systems without a touchscreen do not have Vehicle Connectivity.
SYNC 3 (Without a Touchscreen)
- Press the Settings button (gear icon) on your vehicle's SYNC system.
- Use the left and right arrows to navigate to FordPass Connect.
- Press OK.
- Use the arrows to navigate to Connectivity Settings.
- Press OK.
- Toggle the Connectivity Features slider to your preference (On or Off).
Vehicles Without SYNC
- Select Settings using the information display controls (arrows and OK button) on the steering wheel.
- Navigate to FordPass Connect.
- Press OK.
- Navigate to Connectivity.
- Press OK.
- Toggle the Connectivity Features slider to your preference (On or Off).
Vehicle Connectivity Features
Connected features include, but are not limited to:
- Weather
- News
- Traffic
- Navigation
- Points of interest
With connected features, you can also access:
- Bluetooth® Prioritization: Add, delete, and prioritize your Bluetooth-enabled devices with Bluetooth Prioritization.
- Wi-Fi® Network Management: Add and delete your list of Wi-Fi networks.
